44th President of the United States
Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. He was the first African American president in U.S. history and previously represented Illinois in the United States Senate.
Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He graduated from Columbia University and later earned a law degree from Harvard Law School, where he became the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review.
Before entering national politics, Obama worked as a community organizer in Chicago and later as a civil rights attorney and constitutional law lecturer.
Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004. His keynote address at the Democratic National Convention that same year elevated his national profile.
As President, Obama focused on healthcare reform, economic recovery following the global financial crisis, climate policy and foreign affairs. His administration passed the Affordable Care Act and supported multilateral diplomacy initiatives.
After leaving office, Obama continued public engagement through writing, speaking engagements and the Obama Foundation, focusing on leadership development and civic participation.
