Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a Nigerian politician serving as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since 2023. Prior to his presidency, he served as Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 and played a significant role in shaping contemporary Nigerian party politics.
Tinubu was born in Lagos State, Nigeria. He studied in the United States, earning a degree in Accounting before returning to Nigeria to pursue a career in public service and politics.
He began his political journey during Nigeria’s Third Republic and later became a prominent opposition figure during military rule, advocating for democratic governance.
As Governor from 1999 to 2007, Tinubu implemented fiscal reforms and expanded infrastructure development, laying groundwork for Lagos State’s modern economic growth.
Tinubu played a key role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and won the 2023 presidential election, becoming Nigeria’s democratically elected president.
