Former Governor of Kogi State
Yahaya Adoza Bello is a Nigerian politician who served as the Governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024. He became one of the youngest governors in Nigeria at the time of his inauguration and played a significant role in the political evolution of Kogi State during his tenure.
Yahaya Bello was born in Okene, Kogi State, Nigeria. He studied at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned a degree in Accounting and later obtained additional academic qualifications.
Bello became actively involved in politics through the All Progressives Congress (APC). In 2015, following political developments within the party, he emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in Kogi State.
As Governor, Bello focused on infrastructure development, civil service reforms and security initiatives within Kogi State. His administration emphasized youth inclusion and political restructuring.
During his time in office, Bello introduced administrative reforms aimed at improving state governance, financial accountability and public sector efficiency.
